We're thrilled that you'll be joining us this spring & summer to search the hills for the elusive herp that we all know and love - boreal toads! Our volunteers are the heart of this project, and we're so grateful for your enthusiasm and participation.

We invite you to join us on April 22, 2023 for our upcoming project training where you'll learn everything you need to identify and document boreal toads and sign up for sites!

Sign-ups for our Community Science training day close TODAY, April 10th, so if you haven't had a chance to sign up yet, please take a moment to do so now!

2023 Volunteer Training

What: You're invited to join us for our Boreal Toad Project training!

When: Saturday, April 22, 2023, 9:30am MT

Where: The Natural History Museum of Utah

You can join us all day or just for your particular project of interest! Refreshments and lunch will be provided, and volunteers are encouraged to explore the museum throughout the day while not in trainings.

We've worked with Jess Embroidery Project & Embrogo to create custom project hats for the upcoming field season! Project training attendees will be entered to win an exclusive Sageland Collaborative Boreal Toad hat.

Must be present to win.

If you're unable to attend the in-person training, fret not! We will have a recorded training available on our project page following the event.

Why this Work Matters

The data that our volunteers collect throughout the Boreal Toad Project supports conservation of boreal toads and other amphibians throughout the West by giving us insights into their populations and needs for protections.

We hope that you also take away valuable skills and lessons from your time volunteering on the project. Here are some ways that you can be impacted by participating on this project:

  • Learning how to identify toads

  • Contributing to local conservation

  • Developing a fresh understanding of ecosystems

  • Connecting with nature and getting outdoors

  • Meeting fellow amphibian lovers

  • Improving skills and gaining wildlife conservation experience

We're always excited to hear stories from the field. If you have a Boreal Toad story, photos, or videos from the field season, we would love to hear from you! Tag us on social media, or email us to share your stories.

Thank You

This work would not be possible without the dedication of our incredible volunteers. Thank you!

If you're unable to join us in the field this year, there are other ways you can support this project! Please consider supporting this and other conservation work through donating, sharing on social media, or passing this email along to your family and friends.

Don't hesitate to email us at borealtoad@sagelandcollaborative.org with any questions.
